Schopfheim is a town in the district of Lörrach in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated on the river Wiese, 10 km north of Rheinfelden, and 13 km east of Lörrach.
Schopfheim is 12 miles ENE of Basel according to Google Earth - MER.
The church record states that Jacob Kaufmann was from Schopfen in the vicinity of Basel. Undoubtedly this refers to Schofheim, Baden, where the Kaufmann family had lived long before tliis time and no Schopfen being found in Switzerland at this early date.
