Friedrich Guthard, Sr., entered this country from Germany with his parents in 1737. Reportedly, he was born in Hessian Darmstadt, Germany. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. On record in Alsace Twp., Berks Co., PA, is the naturalized citizenship of Friedrich Guthard, 7 Apr 1761. He purchased 200 acres of land in what is now Alsace Twp., Berks Co. He sold this land in 1761 to Johannes Newcomer Jr. He then purchased land in 1761 or 1762 in Exeter Twp. He died in Berks Co, PA and is interred in the Schwarzwald Reformed (United Church of Christ) Cemetery in Exeter Twp.
