Narrative
Anna Pawling, 89, of Lititz, passed away on September 2, 2007 at Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Shillington, PA., she was the daughter of the late Monroe and Sallie R. (Noll) Blankenbiller. She was the wife of Charles L. Pawling and they celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in January 2007.
Mrs. Pawling worked in her earlier years at Berkshire Knitting Mills and Maier’s Bakery in Reading. She and her husband Charles owned and operated the Brickerville Snackette for several years in the 1960’s. She was active in foster care (starting in the mid- 1950’s) and cared for at least 17 foster children over the years. She lived in Ephrata for about 40 years before becoming a resident at Brethren Village, volunteered for Ephrata Social Services Meals on Wheels for 30 years and continued as a volunteer in several areas at Brethren Village. She was a member of New Joy Brethren in Christ Church, Ephrata.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her daughters : Jeanne, married to Elvin Ressler of Ephrata, Ann, married to John Hogg of Avis, PA., Charlene, married to Larry Leininger of Akron, Patricia married to Barry Martin of Lititz, Lori Pawling of Karthaus, PA.; and a son, Ron, married to Nancy (Good) Pawling of Lititz; fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and a brother Norman Blankenbiller of White Hall, PA.. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Loren Pawling; two sisters, Stella Blum and Irma Blankenbiller; and two brothers, Lawrence and Victor Blankenbiller.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, September 7, 2007 at the Brethren Village Chapel, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz. at 6:30 PM.. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund, c/o Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. 17543. Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, Inc. in charge of the arrangements.
