Narrative
Anna Mae Ressler, 79, of Ephrata, PA, joyously met her Savior on February 1, 2012.
Daughter of the late Grube and Anna Zimmerman Ressler, Anna was born in West Earl Twp., PA. The family later moved to Manheim Twp., where she attended Manheim Twp. schools.
After earning a certificate in interior decorating from Penn State, Wyomissing Campus, she was self-employed since 1958 as a dress and drapery maker.
Active in the E.C. Church since 1961, she served as Sunday school teacher, steward, Vice President of the official board, Lay delegate for 15 years, youth leader, choir member, soloist, worship leader and librarian. Anna was also an avid student of the Bible.
As a 17-year Lay witness missioner, she traveled to nine Eastern states in addition to Germany, Scotland, and New Zealand.
Anna was a poet and songwriter. She sang alto in the Gospel Trio known as Loving-kindness and later as Day-star. Four of her songs were recorded on the Loving- kindness album, "Accepted."
Day-star won first prize in the Gospel Trio Division of an international talent contest by the Music City Song Festival in Nashville, Tenn.
A long-time member of the Ephrata Republican Committee, she served as Vice-chair, secretary, and treasurer. She was also a member of the Ephrata Women's Club and Lancaster County Action.
Anna frequently wrote letters to the editor. A final letter will be read at her funeral.
Surviving are brothers, Harold (Helen Sensenig), Ephrata, Melvin (Lettie Hostetter), Lititz, Elvin (Jeanne Pawling), Ephrata, plus many nephews and nieces.
Anna was preceded in death by her brothers, John (Kathryn Remick), Martin (Alma Martin), Paul who died in infancy, Elmer (the late Anna Mary Lehman), and Clarence (Pat Hess).
Life celebration services will be held at Grace E.C. Church, 101 North 7th Street, Akron, PA on Sunday, February 5, at 4 p.m.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
