77, Ephrata native
Elmer R. Ressler, 77, formerly of Kennett Square, died Thursday at Landis Homes Retirement Community, 1001 E Oregon Road, Lititz, after a brief illness.
A bricklayer most of his life, he operated the former Elmer R. Ressler Masonry Contracting Co., Kennett Square.
Most recently he was a construction superintendent, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of Kennett Square Mennonite Church, where he was active in singing and taught Sunday school.
Ressler enjoyed music, playing the guitar, fishing and collecting cast iron ware.
Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Daniel Grube and Anna Zimmerman Ressler.
He was married 58 years on June 24 to Anna Mary Lehman Ressler.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Grace A., married to Edmund F. Gregg of Annandale, Va; five sons, Elvin, married to Melanie Yoder Ressler of Kennett Square, Marlin G., married to Catherine Neideigh Ressler of Lititz, Richard R. married to Susan Smoker Ressler of New Holland, Mark E., married to Dana Green Ressler of Conowingo, Md., and Ronald I., married to Marlene Hoover Ressler of Millersville.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Harold L., married to Helen Sensenig Ressler of East Earl, Melvin J., married to Lettie Hostetter Ressler of Lititz, and Elvin J., married to Jean Pawling of Ephrata; and a sister, Anna Mae Ressler of Ephrata.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jane Ressler; a son, David Lee; and four brothers, John E., Martin E., Paul I. and Clarence I.
